FAQ's

Glamping dome FAQ: sizes, pricing, permits, installation, and timelines.

Installation time varies by size, but typically a 6m dome can be assembled in 2–3 days, an 8m dome in 3–4 days, and a 10m dome in 4–5 days. This includes foundation preparation and basic setup. Full customization with interior finishes may take an additional 1–2 weeks, depending on your specifications.

StarWild Domes are designed for minimal site disruption. Options include concrete pads, wooden decks, gravel bases, or screw pile foundations. The choice depends on your terrain, local regulations, and whether you want a permanent or semi-permanent installation.

Yes. Our domes are engineered to handle diverse weather conditions. The geodesic design provides exceptional structural strength and wind resistance up to 120+ mph. The insulated panels maintain comfortable temperatures from -40°F to 120°F. Snow loads are calculated based on your region, and the dome’s shape naturally sheds snow and rain.

Permit requirements vary by location. In many areas, domes are classified as temporary structures and may not require traditional building permits. However, we recommend checking with your local planning department. We provide all necessary structural documentation and can assist with the permitting process. Many clients have successfully installed domes in areas with strict building codes.

StarWild Domes are designed for minimal maintenance. The PVC fabric exterior should be cleaned 1–2 times per year with mild soap and water. Check seals and zippers seasonally. The galvanized steel frame requires no maintenance. Interior upkeep is similar to that of any living space. With proper care, your dome will provide decades of reliable service.

Yes. One of the key advantages of our domes is that they’re relocatable. The modular design allows for disassembly and reassembly at a new site. This makes them perfect for seasonal operations, expanding glamping sites, or changing business needs. Professional relocation services are available, or you can do it yourself with our detailed instructions.

Extensive customization is available. Choose from various door and window configurations, transparent ceiling panels for stargazing, interior partition walls, kitchen and bathroom packages, and flooring options, including heated flooring.

Effectively, yes. With proper insulation (our premium multi-layer system), climate control, and utilities, StarWild Domes are comfortable for year-round occupancy. Many clients use them as permanent residences, vacation homes, or rental properties. The key is selecting appropriate climate control and ensuring proper foundation and utility connections for your region.

The galvanized steel frame has a lifespan of 30+ years. The PVC fabric cover typically lasts 15–20 years, depending on climate and maintenance, and can be replaced when needed. Interior components vary based on usage and the quality selected. With regular maintenance, your dome will provide decades of service, making it an excellent long-term investment.

StarWild Domes can be connected to all standard utilities: electricity (including solar panels), plumbing and sewage, water supply, internet/WiFi, propane/natural gas, and phone lines. Off-grid options are also popular, including solar power systems, composting toilets, rainwater collection, and propane appliances.

Many glamping operators report 70–110% annual ROI with average nightly rates of $200–400. Factors include location, amenities, marketing, and occupancy rates (typically 50%+ in good locations). Lower operating costs compared to traditional construction, faster deployment, and the unique appeal of dome accommodations contribute to strong financial performance. We can provide detailed projections based on your specific market.
